Evening Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Evening Supervisor utilizes a company van to visit homes and provide supervision presence in the evenings and early night hours.  This position is responsible to ensure staff are present at the site, engaging with the individuals we serve, and that our Direct Support Professionals understand the routine of the home and the individuals’ support plans.  The Evening Supervisor ensures compliance with all aspects of the program related to the persons served, the Organization, the employees, and property.  Schedule includes the majority of work hours being later than 2p and includes shifts every other weekend.

Essential Duties:

Supervise sites:                                           

  • The purpose of the Evening Supervisor is to assist the employees to complete their job responsibilities and to work with the employee and teach and retrain as needed so the employee on duty is completing job responsibilities.  Not only will the evening supervisor role model the expectations but will work with the employee to learn how to do their job correctly.

  • Continuously build and maintain rapport with individuals served, staff, co-workers and organizational leadership by utilizing effective interpersonal relations and conflict resolution skills.

  • Provide the appropriate support tailored to the needs and desires of each individual person served.  Enable each to live as independently as possible, and model that philosophy to the staff. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Foster a positive living environment for individuals served and a positive working environment for staff.  Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Provide continual input, development, improvement, and implementation to individual program planning for persons served. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Follow and implement persons served plan of care, goals, programs, or other applicable and required plans accurately as schedule requires.  Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Assist with the maintaining of records, documents, charting, and tracking of persons served information as designated by OMI procedures in applicable communication books, medication tracking, progress notes, health progress notes, and any behavioral management programs and/or persons served programs.  Ensure that the staff are recording the required information in a timely and accurate manner.  Check the records and coach staff that need improvements and suggestions.

  • Ensure meal plans are being followed.  Teach and model cooking to staff during mealtimes.  Ensure that the staff are supporting the individuals to prepare meals if they are able to do so.

  • Professionally represent the Organization and Department or Site to current employees, volunteers, vendors, and community.

 

Provide care to individuals served:

  • Supervise individuals served and foster their development by running the programs and helping them work on goals.  Oversee the staff as they implement this task. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Correctly administer persons served medications and treatments as ordered by physician.  Ensure staff are following the medication administration policies and procedures. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Provide and assist in transportation of persons served to and from appointments, events, and other activities. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Provide opportunities and assistance for persons served in meeting social needs by encouraging participation in leisure/recreational activities and increasing community interaction. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Provide assistance with persons served financial management, weekly budgets, according to OMI persons served fund guidelines and procedures. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Assist male and female persons served with personal cares, which may include toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and other daily living requirements. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

Supervision of Staff:

  • Actively supervise staff to ensure that the programs are implemented and the tasks at the site are completed.  Ensure that OMI policies and procedures are being followed and that staff are positively interacting and engaging with the individuals served.

  • There may be an emergency situation where this position will be required to stay beyond a scheduled shift or covering/splitting shifts that are open with Full Time Direct Support Professional and/or other Direct Support Staff.

  • Train new staff; provide guidance and development for new and existing staff.

  • Provide input to Program Coordinators and Program Directors for performance evaluations, documented discussions, and/or disciplinary actions in a timely manner.

  • Complete and submit reports in a timely manner, including but not limited to Incident Reports, First Reports of Injury, Vehicle Accident or Incident Reports. Teach new staff how to do this, ensure long term staff are doing this, and provide direct feedback to all staff.

  • Facilitate communication between staff that need assistance with communicating while on shift.

  • Ensure staff engagement with the individuals we serve.  Phones are put away and staff are working.  If staff need direction, ask what the individuals are currently doing and help the staff determine what they should be doing in accordance with the routine and support plans.

  • Supervise, direct, and assist in general upkeep and repair of facilities and organization vehicles by assuring scheduled chores are completed by Direct Support Staff and clients. Promptly report any maintenance-related issues to Supervisor.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.  1 – 3 years related experience preferred.

 

Leadership Ability

Ability to lead others, delegate tasks, display appropriate behavior as a role model for the individuals we serve and the staff, work autonomously (ability to work without immediate supervision), be able to multi-task, effectively communicate, make decisions, accept and follow change, and interact with others at all levels of the organization.  Must be able to attend and interact effectively and appropriately in group and/or team meetings and in the administrative office.

 

Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
