Job Title: Behavior Specialist

Reports To: Behavior Analyst

Position Status:    Full-Time

Exempt Status:   Non-Exempt

Working Environment:   75  Indoors (%)      25  Outdoors (%)

Position Summary:  Primary responsibilities include conducting Applied Behavior Analysis, developing behavioral intervention plans, carrying out competency-based caregiver training, data analysis, integrity monitoring and implementation of intervention plans, training and supervising direct service providers, and conducting workshops and seminars. This position requires travel.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Human Services from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Previous Experience Requirements: 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training

Other Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

• Maintains a valid Class D driver's license

• Reads & understands, speaks fluently, and writes legibly the English language

• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR - 1st Aid Certification encouraged – will provide certification training if needed

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follows the behavior consulting procedures and OMI policies and procedure

  • Participates in Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), Functional Analysis (FA), and other specialized assessments under BCBA supervision

  • Implements Standardized Interview and Assessment tools, including scoring and concise narrative summary within written report and verbal presentation.

  • Develops, reviews, and modifies behavior modification plans using evidence-based principles, including knowledge of recent and relevant research in ABA and ethical problem-solving skills.

  • Develops, implements, trains, modifies and tracks results using methods that adhere to Applied Behavior Analysis principles, techniques, and ethical guidelines.

  • Structures a plan for implementation of an FBA, timeline for implementation, implements the FBA and uses information to develop behavior intervention recommendations.

  • Trains staff, family, caregivers on recommended interventions and monitors implementation to determine the need for on-going training.  

  • Assists in the development of community/seminar/workshop trainings in the areas of behavior management strategies and related topics.

  • Completes two hours of volunteer services each calendar year from among the approved list of community sites.

 

Other Duties:

  • Openly and frequently communicate to clients with empathic verbal communication and listening skills.

  • When requested assist with OMI client behavior plans.

  • Actively participate and contribute in at least one Organizational committee.

  • Participate in Organizational events and activities.

  • Professionally represent the Organization and department or site to current employees, volunteers, vendors and community.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Observe all company policies, rules, and safety practices.

  • Maintains ethical standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned
